Devotion
Promises, promises, promises. "Whoever eats of this bread will live for ever."
Growing up I, along with several million other children, watched the Howdy Doody show. One of their sponsors was Wonder Bread - 'Building strong bodies 7 ways.' (becoming 12 ways later). It was good stuff and a miracle food at that. With peanut butter and jelly, it was even better.
But no matter how many slices of Wonder Bread a young boy ate, no way was he going to live forever. But this Jesus guy says, "Whoever eats of this bread will live forever."
Now that's a bread to eat!
Prayer
Lord, give us today our daily bread. Strengthen us in your ways and give us eternal life. Amen.
