Scripture John 11: 28-44
Devotion Lazarus had died. Friends and family were distressed and grieving. Mary told Jesus " If you had been here, my brother would still be alive."
Jesus Wept. Was it because he mourned Lazarus or he mourned the lack of faith the people had.
Jesus said "Didn't I tell you that you will see a wonderful miracle from God if you believe?"
Jesus looked to heaven and said "Thank-you for hearing me Father. Yes I know you always listen to me, but I have said this for the benefit of the people standing here, so they will believe you sent me." Then he shouted "Lazarus come out!" and Lazarus came.
Wow! What a way to impress people, bring a dead man back to life.
We all have times when we don't understand, when we question why? Those are the times we need to cling to our faith and believe.
Prayer
We thank-you Lord,
for the wonder of life.
The mystery of death.
For the promise of resurrection.
For your love Lord we give you thanks.
Amen
