Scripture
John 6: 1-15

Devotion
Jesus did some really amazing things in revealing the true nature of God. This passage tells about how Jesus made it possible for his disciples to feed several thousand people when they were unable to feed a few dozen with the scarce resources they possessed. "Six months wages would not buy enough."
When everything was said and done, there was more than enough 'left-overs' to go around. God continues to provide today when Jesus' followers lack the necessary resources to 'feed his sheep.'
For Jesus this is a given, for God this is a given, caring for 'his people' is a given. No need to place Jesus on a pedestal or throne--just 'care for his people.'
"When Jesus realized that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, he withdrew again to the mountain by himself."

Prayer
Lord, you have fed us. We are filled with your nourishing Spirit. We want you to take of us, always. We are ready to crown you King of Kings. Help us to care for your people as you care for us. Amen.
