Scripture
Matthew 21: 12-17
Devotion
Jesus' words in this scripture reading are a bit scary. If you are a new Christian, you might think "What am I getting into"; but as we all continue to study the life of Jesus and learn of the eternal love and protection of God, we see that these words are but another promise that we will neved be alone. This world is not "our home", to quote a gospel song; we are merely visitors here and there are many other visitors that try to lead us away from the narrow path to our true home. These are the people Jesus talked about in today's scripture reading. Not only do they want us to follow them, they will be "seriously mean" to us if we don't. But friends, hold fast to the promise that we will never be alone. The reward for standing firm in your faith, is eternal life in a home so glorious that we can't even imagine what it will be like.
Prayer
Holy, Awesome, Wonderful, Father in Heaven, give us strength to stand firm in our faith. Help us to feel your presence in all we do and say. Lead us to the narrow path that ends with life in your Kingdom. In Jesus name we ask these things. Amen.
