Scripture
John 2: 23-3:15

Devotion
Being “born again” is as mysterious to me as it was to Nicodemus. How can one do this and how do you know if it has happened to you?
Jesus chided Nicodemus by saying that if you don’t even believe me when I tell you about things that happen here on earth, how can you possibly believe me if I tell you what is going on in heaven? Jesus said, “Unless you are born again, you ‘can’t get into the Kingdom of God.”
I’ve heard a story about Tony Blair, former prime minister of England. His father was gravely ill. When Tony told his teacher about it, his teacher suggested that they get down on their knees and pray. “But,” whispered Tony, “I’m afraid my father doesn’t believe in God. “That’s alright,” said his teacher, “because God believes in him.”
Maybe that’s it. Leave it up to God. If He saw to it that we were born, maybe He’ll see to it that we are born again! (or maybe not!)

Prayer
Eternal God, by the birth of Jesus Christ you gave yourself to the world. Grant that, being born in our hearts, he may save us from all our sins, and restore within us the image and likeness of our Creator, to whom be everlasting praise and glory, world without end. Amen.
