Scripture
John 4: 27-42
Devotion
As the disciples returned they were surprised to see Jesus speaking to a woman at the well. She had come alone. He reminded her she was not to speak to a strange man when her husband was not along. He knew she had five husbands and living with another so she was rejected by the women of the community.
When the woman linked His message of hope to the Messiah, Jesus said, I am the “Promised One”.
Finally the woman left her water jar and immediately rushed back to tell the people her experience and invited them to come to see this man. They finally decided to go back. Jesus stayed two more days and he led many, many others to believe.
“We did not believe you, but now we have heard for ourselves and know this man is 'Savior of the World,” said the Samaritans.
When Jesus went back to Galilee, he was asked by a royal officer to heal his sick son. Jesus promised and when the officer found his son, he was well again. Jesus kept His Promise.
Isn't it amazing that Jesus does not reject sinners but seeks them. He is not looking for new ways to judge us. “God is Love” and fills us with joy as I realize “God loves me!”
Prayer
Jesus loves me still today,
walking with me on my way,
wanting as a friend to give
light and love to all who live.
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.
