Devotion
We get the part about God "giving His only Son" for us - or do we? God gave...God sacrificed his Son, God's self, for our sins. Yet have you ever thought the lesson is perhaps not about sacrifice at all - nor about love. After all a parent's love is a given, right?
For me the 'aha' moment is in verse 17 and the why of His sending...not to condemn but to save the world. Being very much part of that world, it is us, isn't it that is saved rather than condemned? We are guilty--that is our conviction--and yet we are saved!
How wonderful is that.
Prayer
Loving God, I am so thankful that when I should be condemned, I am loved. Thank you. Make me worthy of the love you have for me. Amen.
