Scripture
John 3: 22-36

Devotion
In these verses, John is baptizing people at the same time and near the same place that Jesus is baptizing. John is approached by some who question whether this upsets him because now the people are going to Jesus instead of him and doesn’t that make him feel less important.

John responds by explaining that just as a best man or a groomsman is happy for the groom on his day, he is happy for Jesus because all the works John is doing are for the glory of God, just as everything Jesus does is for the glory of God.

As we go about our daily lives, we should also do good works. However, sometimes when we perform good deeds, we are quick to take the credit and pat ourselves on the back, impressed with what we have done. When what we should be doing, is glorifying God and instead of taking the credit for ourselves, we should give that back to God who works through us.

Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven…………………..Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
