Scripture
John 7:1-13
Devotion
Jesus’ followers wanted him to perform more miracles, to prove to the world how great he was. There were those that believed Jesus was a wonderful man, while others believed he was duping the public. Yet, when the Jewish leaders tried to find Jesus, it appeared as though many were afraid of these Jewish leaders. They lacked the courage to speak out for Jesus.
This still occurs today, especially in the realm of politics and professional sports. It is hard to defend public figures when many others criticize their actions. Everybody loves a winner!
Many of us do believe in Jesus. We come to church, serve on committees, and do what we can to support those in our church family. Yet it is so often difficult to speak out publicly about our love for Jesus.
Prayer
May God grant us the courage we need to speak up.!
