Scripture
John 5: 19-29
Devotion
This scripture is pretty clear. God has made Christ his equal.
Jesus gives all the credit to his father. "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do: for whatever he does, the Son also does in like manner." v. 19.
Jesus promises eternal life to all who believe in him. He also clearly states that there will be a time of judgment for believers and non-believers; and because Christ is God's equal, they will both be doing the judging.
As believers, we will be rewarded for the work we have done for Christ. Non-believers will be condemned.
Prayer
Father of us all, One in Jesus Christ. Help us to trust in you. We place ourselves in your hands - God of justice and grace. Amen.
