John 5: 30-47
Devotion
In this passage, Jesus is talking to the Jewish people trying to convince them he is the Messiah. The Jewish people were looking for a "celebrity" to save them from Roman rule, but here was Jesus, a common man. God's word and message come in all different forms. We should not let any preconceived notions interfere with us receiving God's message and guidance.
Prayer
God, You are great indeed! When we looked for someone 'special' to save us, you come to us as a man like ourselves. Help us to receive your word and message even though it has not been what we expected - in Jesus name. Amen.
